A month later but just in time for next year's pre-sale tickets? That was me justifying my abhorrently late photo diary post from Coachella. But it's here!! And hopefully my pretty pictures will make up for my tardiness. Highlights from my first Coachella experience: when Solange came on stage with The XX and I gave a fangirl squeal, Stevy's random reunions with several highschool pals, grooving to Simian Mobile Disco just when the sun set and the night air still clung onto the warmth of the day, La Roux, Stevy at Tame Impala, Wild Belle, the Sahara Tent, making various sponsored instant photo cards (Heineken, General Store, etc.), the Fruttare bars(!), freshening up at the H&M tent, evening walkbacks to our car, CRAB FRIES, assigning the snail as the meeting spot until we realized it was mobile, swaying with the palm trees while Beach House crooned, reuniting my love for disposable cameras, our sanctuary that was our bed after every long day, the surplus amount of sheepskin at our Coachella home that I was definitely OK with, the open backed stages that allowed an excellent desert background for the artists, wondering about the story behind the balloon chain for much too long than we care to admit, the Cabazon dinosaurs, yard sales in Palm Springs that conjures up such items as that Oriental crane covered desk, the sandstorm, that one morning we could sleep in & enjoy the secret garden, James Blake, and just taking it all in before 3 days of festival fun were gone!

On next year's to do list: Ferris wheel, Yuma tent, windmill shoot, and Palm Springs aerial tramway.

I know these Coachella posts are taking forever for me to get to but they’re coming! This was day two and since I got a good feel of the vibe at the festival on day one, I was ready to whip out this RIHxRI dress. I know there were mixed reviews on this collaboration but I for one was pleasantly surprised at several of the pieces from an aesthetic perspective. This particular piece was a toss up for me mainly because I’m 5’3", which means even the smallest of sizes in maxi dresses are still too max. However, I finally succumbed because of its unusual design combination of being half utilitarian overalls/half sheer sexy dress & the fact that I knew it would grow into a piece I’d throw on on a lazy day & just, live in it. Seriously, the actual skirt diameter is about 10ft, which gives ample room to just, sprawl. There were a lot of straps going on with my bikini top & fanny pack & overalls dress so I decided to eliminate one. The result was that of a toga with utility pockets for my Nature Valley bar.

Popped my Coachella cherry this year & I have to say that it might be an annual thing for me from now on. I was super nervous/excited to see what kind of elements I'd have to brave (I'm looking at you sandstorm/windstorm) while trying to catch 5 artists we wanted to see at one time slot. With it being day one, I figured I'd keep the outfit semi-safe in terms of comfort seeing as how I wasn't too sure how I'd fare in the festival setting. So out came this romper, which I've had for a good amount of years & have thought about getting rid of more than once but never do, mainly due to its super softness & easy wearing. Along with that came this pretty, beaded, probably-pointless-against-the sun cover up to fully get that transformed hippie look. Prada head knot to substitute a flower crown & fanny pack because festivals seem like the only socially acceptable place to wear them & I love that. End note: I'm really glad I got a shot of the moving snail sans graffiti.
Coachella day two post up next!

Oh I absolutely love it when it's sunny in Vancouver!!! So much so that I used 3 exclamation marks - that's a lot. Anyway, with such a rarity of the aforementioned happening along with my wanting to doc this sick winged jacket I got a couple weeks back, Spencer (my new fab blogger buddy) and I went to Stanley Park to snap a few touristy photos in front of the totem poles. We managed to get a good amount of unblocked shots before the numerous tourist busses came rolling in, which was our cue to leave. On doing so, I kid you not, it seemed like the longest, most convoluted route out of a park. We questioned ourselves numerous times as to whether or not we had already passed the exit & were actually just driving around in circles.

Back to the jacket, along with coolness factor 10 of giving me wings, it is actually super warm & comfortable. Usually JScott's designs are quite wild & 'out there' but thought this totem pole design was the tamer one of his pieces thus allowing me to pull it off. I'll leave his extreme cutout track jackets for my girl Britney.
